Pros

You will learn a lot about persuasion, public speaking, and time management. Beyond that, you may get to see some amazing destinations, hang out with co-workers from around the world, and immerse yourself in the cruise lifestyle! There is a lot of fun to be had, and when the sales are good, it's all the better. It is a very unique job, with memories to last a lifetime. Also, you can take 6 month contracts, and then vacation for 2, and back and forth, receiving your pay all along!

Cons

Your experience will depend on your ability to adapt to new situations, and be very dependent on your boss and teammates. It's a small ship, you see each other all day, everyday. You may get someone really intense and/or hurtful. It's very high-pressure sales, and some people crack. Don't expect sympathy. Also, unless you are from outside the US or Canada, you pay could be really crappy, so it's up to you to decide if food & board/the experience is worth it. And sometimes, depending on what you are selling and to who... you feel pretty terrible about yourself.

Pros

The travel is really the best thing about working for this company.

Cons

The PAY, when they actually paid you. They hold your check for art loss from previous auctioneers.

It is true that the time lag between when people worked and when they received their pay used to be greater. This has been improved as all ICs are now paid twice a month instead of once a month. We are sorry that you don’t feel that you were properly compensated, however we don’t think anyone would work for us or anyone else for “basically for free” for 2 years, or really any amount of time. In the last year the pay has also been increased for 3 out of 4 of the positions on the ships. Even at the entry level, which is only for 90 days, there is a minimum guarantee of $1,400 per month, which only comes into play if the very lowest goals are achieved for a full month. The average new hire Level 1 Associate earns around $1,900 a month. While we do agree that the pay is not stellar for those first 90 days, the room and board is also free, as well as the travel costs. You then get a raise after 90 days and another raise after 180 days, followed by additional raises when promoted to the quite lucrative positions of Gallery Director and Auctioneer. Thank you for your time with us and we wish you the best.
