Pros

Remote work with supplied resources. Benefits are decent and comparable.

Cons

Upper management continues to outsource resources without understanding the impact to existing processes and employees. Middle management is unknowledgeable about technical processes and managing. Micro-management is consistent across development teams by those that don't understand what job entails. New architect team doesn't know how the company works in order to re-architect it. Database Administration has been pulled from all database decision. They continue to promote those that don't know what they are doing and pushing those that do know out the door.

Pros

Work life balance is really good. Coworkers are great to work with.

Cons

Management in IT has 0 idea what they are doing. They expect everyone to do everything and you end up working on something different every sprint. The problem comes when you cannot learn any one system. Software Engineers barely program and instead do random other technical work. On top of this, IT management hasn't listened to any of the feedback for over a year. They are incredibly out of touch with what is going on despite being told constantly what the problems are.

Pros

o Metabank dabbles in an array of business areas so the work is great when the Project Management side of the house has their stuff together o They are working very hard on making the company as a whole follow agile methodologies

Cons

o There seems to be a big disconnect between the people who can get stuff done (software engineers) and the people who want to get stuff done (project managers, stakeholders). The work that comes in to the teams is terribly unorganized and not at all thought through. "Sprint 0s" tend to take longer because of this and if you are not on a strong, agile team, you will get hosed with sprints and sprints of poorly written stories. o promotions don't seem to be a thing in the software engineering (managers will argue that they promoted a bunch of managers, but the management role appears to be a demotion in responsibility(they are using your manager as your scrum master...))
