Pros

- Benefits are actually pretty good for US employees - Slow enough pace that the influx of former government employees aren't overwhelmed

Cons

- Your starting pay locks in how much money you are going to make. There are no cost of living raises and promotions are only 6-10%. Safe to assume anyone hired more than 6 months after you at the same pay has a higher base. - Technology stack is a mixture of ancient, kinda ancient and irrelevant. Most of it is running on in-house designed and built platforms that have to be cycled out every 2 years as the devs who built them leave. - Posturing, politics and presentation skills are the pathway to success in technology, not technical capability. - Between lunch & learns, tech experience talks, affinity groups, employee connection programs and the regular meeting load you can get paid for talking and sitting on meetings for half the week

Layoffs, Reorgs and Lack of Leadership

Pros

Smart, nice people who are able to make things work with no direction from leadership

Cons

Lack of leadership and accountability in C-Suite. Dan Schulman constantly contradicting his press releases. The biggest betrayal is saying he wouldn't layoff during COVID and his team continuing to rip people out of their jobs.

Pros

Pay for Tech positions is good. There are some great people scattered in various groups.

Cons

The Information Security group is very cut-throat and not a fun environment to work in. It is full of unnecessary fire drills and inconsistent, temperamental leadership. Roughly half of the 2nd line InfoSec group, from CISO on down, do not care about their employees in the least. Managers will smile and lie to your face then do the opposite. Very unprofessional managers will openly mock former employees and expect you to laugh along at their horrible jokes lest ye be next. Last year they shrunk cubes and banned personal items on desks. Personal items must be kept in a bank of lockers so that it is easier to walk people out as they are terminated. InfoSec has constant "reorgs" to get rid of employees(Often more than once a year). Management complains that they can't find good employees, but the reality is, they probably should be taking a long look at their own management styles instead.
