lower than average pay in most areas Promotes Culture Shaping and values - looks great for photo ops and publicity, but internally management does not exemplify or follow the values. age bias exists in all levels of employment - watch your back when you hit your 50's - regardless of tenure.

Pros

Remote work, that’s about it.

Cons

Everything. Make sure to put in your notice on the last day you plan to work. If you try to be courteous and put in your two week notice, you will be let go that same day. The incentive plan is constantly changing - for the worst. There is no annual salary increases. You must be here for a MINIMUM of three years before you really build your referral network, but you’ll probably be fired for poor performance before you’re able to build up your network. You will be given banks and CPA’s, then in the middle of nowhere they’ll take half of your referral network and make you choose banks or CPAs without notice. Leadership sucks, there’s so many times I asked questions because I really needed the support and never got it- I am a fast learner and only need to be told once, but all I got was the run around which made doing my job impossible. It feels very scummy because you’re bringing on businesses to Paychex, promising them 24/7 customer support based in the USA, but good luck actually getting in touch with a specialist when they have a problem. The client will end up blowing up the sales rep because their specialist isn’t receptive to them, and the sales rep can’t even get anything solved with a sales rep. They make many mistakes on client payroll including issuing w2’s to employees with another employees social security number on it— major privacy event! Then they’ll say, “actually we know our service sucks, so don’t make that a selling point to clients anymore!”… but Paychex’s product is much more expensive than other payroll providers, so what exactly is the selling point?!… My coworker was told THE DAY OF that she is being switched to a different team, with no option to stay. I could go on and on. This is a horrible company to work for, and I highly recommend you run as far away from them as possible. Their turnover rate is astronomical, and I can see why. The amount of disgruntled clients having to TAG Paychex on LinkedIn just to get issues resolved is disgusting and embarrassing. If you need sales experience, find another payroll company with a better reputation to get the experience on your resume. Oh yeah, they sell you on unlimited PTO but there are multiple months of the year, “selling season” where you cannot take ANY PTO. At all!!! They will sell you on the ability to make tons of money in your interviews, but once you do the math, you have to sell hundreds of thousands of dollars in payroll to make a decent, livable wage. If you don’t make your goals, they’ll put you on a performance plan and you’ll be on your way out.
