Paychex reviews

I worked here for less than a year. I wasnt really given the opportunity to prove myself. First and foremost, i interviewed for a full-stack dev position. The interview was extremely easy and I got the job. After a couple months, I was told by management that I was not meeting all expectations at the time of the review cycle. What exactly were those expectations? I was never warned or given any formal document on them? I felt very blindsided by the whole system and lack of transparency. Not a very good start. Also, the pay for senior engineer is a bit below average and doesnt really align well with expectations and deadlines. We would have sprint retros and the only topic that was covered was how to make sure we hit a deadline for a story next time. If every story met deadline, then many times we would not even have a retro.
