Pros

Some genuinely pleasant and funny coworkers who are trying to make the best out of a really bad situation. You can at least learn a little bit about the payroll industry. If not, you will learn about what makes the competition so successful. Although management treats this as a sales role it really isn't. This is realistically a telemarketing role. If you're interested in seeing how brutal that world can be than perhaps step into this pit. You are really trying to set appointments for sales reps to meet new possible clients. You telemarket a database and make 170-200 calls a day. It's a very tough position even if certain things were to change. Theres a game room if you have time to use it or if it hasn't been shut down due to dissatisfaction with performance.

Cons

I could write a book about this place but no one wants that. Honestly, avoid this position at all costs. Being unemployed and waiting for a good job is a way better option. Management is very conflicting and doesn't seem to have any idea of what they want to come from this department. You are given a high quota to try and reach despite the fact that absolutely no one likes to speak with a telemarketer. Heck, think about what happens if you get a call at home. This is the exact same thing. Everything you say is scripted. If you follow the script exactly as trained and fail the managers will blame you. They are no better at this job as they were former NSS reps and the numbers and their occasional attempts to do our job say it all. It ends up in nothing but failure. Every superior you ask for advice will tell you something different. There's no direction, no helpful guidance. Please be wary of being told how wonderful this place is. This is a room full of talented young people who have no prospects other than leaving. New candidates are always told how Paylocity puts them on a fast track to promotion. These are not real promotions unless you consider going to another really tough phone misery job a promotion. I've witnessed plenty of disrespectful behavior on the part of management. I've seen so many people either be fired or quit in the last year that I don't know if I could even list them all. It seems like berating us for that is more important than making any positive changes to a really difficult job. You're lucky if you make any commission as the whole system plays against you. Don't bet on making more than $31k a year here. Far below " entry level".

Pros

I don't even know where to start, they pretty much let you now from the get go that the position as a NSS rep takes a lot drive and motivation and that it isn't for everyone. not to discourage you, but simply to let you know that you need to work hard in order to play hard. They are upfront about the one year minimum at the position in order to be promoted to higher levels within the company. They preach and follow open communication with is unbelievably beneficial. The managers try to help as much and as often as they can and literally guide you to success when you first start so that moral is high and once you have gotten into the swing of things, they actually give you the opportunity to grow within the department as a Senior NSS rep (if you're at 105% quote, which is a very reasonable expectation). when you start off, they don't expect you to come swing through the gates and give you ample amount of time before placing you at full quote, which allows you to get ahead in Year To Date quota and build a cushion. I, for example, had a very strong start during my first few months but plateaued for a brief amount of time (but still stayed above quota, i just had high expectations of myself) and management was nothing but supportive kept me motivated throughout my fight back to the top. Management let's you know that the promotion that can be achieved after the 12 month mark is that they will push for you and make a strong recommendation for you to get the promotion, basically get you an interview. which is often confused by many for lying. but with the company growing at such an alarming rate, competition for better positions is to be expected. there is no reason you can't be promoted if you come in, make the dials, get the appointments, and stay positive. this is an ENTRY LEVEL POSITION, so expecting to not work hard is just foolish for any new hire. the environment is so laid back and casual the least they expect out of their employees is to do what the job descriptions asks of them. the company rewards the reps with multiple bonuses (which on occasion match my check after a strong pay period!) in the form of winning ping pong games, bags, bozo buckets, darts. they also have a game room especially for the reps to cool off in if work gets overwhelming. they are completely fine with the reps socializing in between calls to get their mind off things, of course to an acceptable extent. work/life balance is unbelievable! i have never once stressed about not hitting quota on my drive home or when I'm with my family at family/social events. I've had 2 full time entry level jobs before this, and the stress level was unbelievably high! working here literally is like hanging out with friends while making money and growing as a professional, it really comes down to the individual on how they manage their time. i can go on for days how this place has been nothing but good to me, and how i think it's one of the best places to work.

Cons

i don't have many, but the biggest con would be that they are too lenient. they want you to feel so comfortable that they are willing to let you work at your pace, and then people get carried away and don't produce, and when they fall behind they blame management (i know, it is more of a pro than a con, but even when i want to look for negativity, its bc of extreme positivity). another con would be that they make it look so easy that people easily get carried away and feel they are too good for the position, but when they don't find success, they once again blame management (again, i know its more of a pro in regards that they make you feel so comfortable).
