Pros

Used to be a great company, some great people still there, still trying to make it work. Stock doing ok. Maybe the CEO will read this.

Cons

It is plastic land. Fake values, fake words, fake talk of making things better, fake diversity plan that looks more like racial profiling (no idea why they think they can show others the way ) people "disappearing", being let go with no great reasons, no support, and swept under the rug as though they never existed. CHRO given massive power but cannot identify her own employees after 3 years unless she can take personal credit for their work, cares more about time with her "agent" than employees, and blows off meetings (never actually bothers looking at anyone on zoom) anyway", constantly claims she is responsible for making PCTY "cool" (ugh) and bringing her best friends into high level leadership roles after paying them top dollar contracts regardless of their actual talent levels or results (total joke). People quitting or taking STD because of the mental stress of working in CHRO division hurting employee health and safety despite multiple complaints. Have a problem? Nowhere to go. Can't trust HR. CEO/President seems blind. Can't trust leadership to take care of its people, just do podcasts on the great things they are doing... without actually doing anything. Actually saw Paylocity Swag for sale at Goodwill. Scary.

Pros

If you are fortunate and have a good manager it is a reasonable place to work. If you have a poor manager it's a nightmare. With a lot of growth has come many new managers, many of them are poor. The good reviews reflect the company a decade ago. It was amazing then. Today, if you have the good boss, it's like working for any other publicly traded software place, nothing special and ok pay. If you have a bad boss you will suffer alone.

Cons

Middle and upper management layers appear to lack oversight. Bad managers abound and even if their entire team quits and has to be replaced, they seem to stay on forever or are promoted. Teams are heavily siloed. Majority of workers are remote, which allows the more tyrannical ones to torture people on their team at their whimsy. Don't go to HR for help, they will not support you.

Culture Concerns

Pros

The Software and Service! Amazing Colleagues, and a handful of great leaders! Also, incredible benefits. Commission structure is the best in the industry.

Cons

There is not an issue with transparency, but one with feedback. As a top performer, I have major concerns about the changes taking place within the sales culture. There is no flexibility and new reps are not on-boarded properly with proper training. Very few managers know the internal processes here to even assist the new people, so when those new hires are drowning 6 months in, they blame the rep and they are put on a performance plan. Not too mention, the company is taking a quantity or quality approach to putting as many reps in a city as possible. You say you don’t want a culture like Paycom, I do believe that’s exactly what you are building. As the other review mentioned...use our Survey tool, you will see. Your reps are absolutely miserable and looking elsewhere.

Hi, and thank you so much for taking the time to provide us with valuable feedback. We take great pride in our software and service, and are happy to see you agree. Our feedback culture is very important to us, and we are thankful you are willing to share your point of view. Any changes we roll out go through an extensive process prior to sharing with the sales organization to ensure the changes benefit the individuals and contribute to their success. We take feedback seriously, and believe in the value of our survey tool. We have begun surveying our employees more and more and will continue to do so. We believe in our culture and are constantly striving to make Paylocity a Best Place to Work. If you are willing to share more specific feedback, I would love to have a conversation.
