Pros
I previously left Peek to move up to Seattle due to cost of living in the Bay Area in 2016. My experience at Peek has been fantastic, but I ended up joining Amazon AWS in Seattle. To keep a long story short, my experience at AWS was not what I hoped for and my career path was moving toward a trajectory I did not want. When I heard that Peek was opening remote offices in New York and Seattle, it was really exciting news. After wrapping up my remaining projects in AWS RDS in 2019, I decided it was time to come back to Peek. Coming back has been amazing, the company has grown a lot. The total number of employees more than tripled since I started with them in 2014. I've watched the company closely during my 3 years at AWS and it was great to see them secure Series B funding, acquiring a competitor, and partnering with Google. Working here you have lots of ownership over your projects, and the management team encourages researching new technologies and services to make the infrastructure more resilient. I am very happy with my decision to come back.
Cons
It's not really a con for me since I enjoy learning about new technologies and tools. But Peek is a fast pace company in which they are not afraid to take chances on using new tools and languages to build out their systems. So be ready to challenge yourself and innovate!
