Pros
Overall a very well run manufacturing operation, with some sites better than others. Pella tries very hard to treat team members respectfully and fairly. Pay is competitive, hours typically are not excessive - however can be somewhat seasonal. Overall, communication to all levels is done well. Manufacturing systems are continually improved with input from all levels. Toyota Production systems has been adopted and adapted better than most. Pella really tries to create a decent place to work for all. I have a lot of respect for this company.
Cons
Fairly minor - especially when bench marking with other manufacturers. Management - especially middle management/hr are most often new college grads - full of enthusiasm who are eager to learn the Pella's production system - but with little depth. The unintended result at times are jello molded leaders who rely on prepared speaking points or company lingo. The culture is very positive and team work focused - yet can also create avoidance to dealing with difficult issues.
