      One of the best companies to work for, period

      Pros

      Amazing, passionate coworkers, no matter which department you find yourself in or collaborating with. Senior leadership is very transparent about the direction the company is heading in and corporate strategy. Like most jobs, your mileage may vary depending on who your manager(s) is, but most of the marketers at Penguin Random House are just great people all around. The company is very respectful of personal boundaries and encourages everyone to take their (generous) vacation days, personal days, or take advantage of the many benefits that Penguin has to offer. Plus, books!

      Cons

      In the marketing department, you learn as much as you're able to within the first 2 years just by doing the work. It's very rewarding, but at some point you realize "this is it" and the only variation going forward are the authors you work with and books you work on. It keeps the job interesting, but growth (in terms of the skills you pick up) is quite limited, and most lower-level employees switch departments or leave for other opportunities.

      As a book publishing company, they emphasize on learning, education and employee growth. If you spend little more time with they will give you opportunity for better job title.

      Cons

      Don't invest time and resources on entry level positions.
