Fun, creative environment with little room for movement

Pros

Great benefits, excellent vacation schedule, all the free books you could ever want, inspiring and creative coworkers who care deeply about the product and the industry

Cons

Extremely top-heavy company, salary-wise; higher ups (especially those who have been with the company for a long time) make plenty of money while their assistants scrape by to pay NYC rent. Opportunities for those in entry level positions to advance up the ladder are few and far between.

An incredible company

Pros

One of the most amazing places I've worked in my career. Everyone is bright and engaged. We're working on interesting projects and work with the best books and authors in the world. Company culture is phenomenal; very conducive to working parents (mother's room, flex time, Take Your Kids to Work Day, etc.); philanthropic (charity fundraisers, Red Cross donations for emergency relief, matching gifts), conscientious (paid time off for part time employees before mandated, LGBT and diversity committees who go out into the community and do good work); a recognition that we're people not just employees.

Cons

Change is challenging post merger as we move systems and merge departments; some people are fearful of their jobs. A bit of a have and have not mentality from uptown to downtown; the commute between the two offices is a pain.
