Pros

Generous time-off policy. People in senior management treat others with respect. Good health benefits and other company perks. It's a very friendly environment and no one will bother you as longs as you perform your job responsibilities up to expectations. Company offers on-going training to employees on different job related subjects.

Cons

Unfortunatelly, not too much room for advancement. Salaries in this company and other publishing firms are lower compared to other industries.

Pros

The people, for the most part, are very bright and are motivated to work in publishing because of their love of books. The authors and books are top drawer and hence one can have pride in the work. Generally, the ambiance is pleasant and there is sharing between certain departments. The health benefits are somewhat expensive but good; the contribution to the 401k is also good. The computers are excellent.

Cons

The hours are long and the pay is not great. Moving up is not easy in today's market. Since the Penguin Random House merger, the atmosphere is more corporate and geared towards the bottom line than before.
