The sheer size of the university and its various departments leads to a large amount of bureaucratic roadblocks, from stopping research lab-related trips to wait for forms to keeping track of every minute worked or not worked during certain trips or events. It's understandable for the diversity of research going on at different departments in research labs, but it leaves a lot of people in limbo sometimes.
