Pros

Working part time at Penn State as a student is a wonderful experience. Managers/higher ups are totally flexible with your weekly course schedule and are always understanding during midterms/finals/other exams. While I cannot speak specifically to the department I work in given its small size, the challenges I'm presented with are interesting and require thought to solve. The work I'm doing now is directly translatable to my major choice.

Cons

The largest downside is there has been a great deal of restructuring of the department I work in over the last 12 months. The transition from one division to another division of the university has been completed though, so this coming semester should not have nearly as many meetings as the previous did. I definitely would not work here after college ended though. There simply is not enough room for career development in my field here.

Pros

Great Job. Really flexible hours and a great staff. Love working there and everyone is super friendly. I would recommend anyone to work there.

Cons

The dining hall is struggling to maintain staff so this is a little concerning. It makes it tough to switch a shift if you need to unless you tell them ahead of time

Pros

Positions are very laid back and bosses are flexible.

Cons

Pay is low and you will not be challenged. The laid back culture promotes laziness and raises are given according to seniority instead of performance; again promoting greater laziness. Wayyy too many employees for the amount of work that needs to be done....walk around and see how many people are doing nothing vs. working. It's astonishing.
