      Pros

      Being a TA at Penn State is one of the most enriching jobs I have come across. The students here are very talented and hard-working. It's really good to deal with such students, specially when the learning process is two-way. I have learnt a lot in the past 2 years of my Teaching Assistantship.

      Cons

      The compensation is a little less than what is being offered at many other universities.

      Pros

      Penn State offers a fabulous benefits package... including health care, retirement with matching funds, immediate tuition reduction for staff and a waiting period for spouse and children, excessive paid vacation and a flexible work schedule. There are trips to the campus for meetings and great training opportunities from top level professionals in their fields.

      Cons

      Not many cons to working at PSU. You do get paid once a month at the beginning of every month, so you need a good budget. There is travel throughoug the work week and for trips to State College.

      -- Electrical engineering department is not good for non-citizens -- Funding opportunities limited in places other than ARL -- Rigid course structure
