Pros

Excellent benefits Education opportunities Room for growth

Cons

A very cliquish environment. Leadership was less than to be desired. Toxic managers, and colleagues. This is specific to my department and immediate team. I know other departments at the university that were amazing and had the best community. My department was focused on mental health, compassion, and mindfulness... I was so excited to be part of their headlining work but was so let down. The pillars of this department felt like a lie, as I never felt welcomed since the day I started. I did learn from this experience always to advocate. I wouldn't say I like confrontation but avoiding it didn't help. It was the worst six months.

Pros

Good healthcare and time off benefits

Cons

Toxic workplace. Very little, if no, oversight and regulation of unethical and otherwise questionable behavior. HORRIBLE MANAGEMENT, favoritism, unprofessional, let people do whatever they want. Incompetence gets rewarded, especially if you make friends in the right places. People take multiple hours for lunch, are on personal calls all day, and don't get their work finished yet they still get promoted. Working hard and exceeding expectations gets you nowhere and barely a thank you for your contribution. People will intentionally make you look bad if they don't like you, which has happened to to me as well as other coworkers. Some managers and directors only care about looking good to their superiors because their main concern is their own personal gain. If you don't follow the crowd and join the clique, you will be ostracized. Unfriendly and negative atmosphere; most employees fearful of reporting unethical behavior due to potential negative recourse.

Pros

Great benefits as a full time employee. Decent work/life balance (not sure this applies to management).

Cons

Where do I start? Overzealous management, slow as molasses processes, creative ideas are ignored or swept under the rug. As a creative working within the behemoth that is PSU, you are largely ignored. No room for advancement or compensation increases.
