Pros

You get to create your own classes, and they show you a lot of respect. PhD students are treated as junior colleagues rather than slave labor. The insurance package for graduate assistants is fantastic. They also pay their GAs much better than many other universities.

Cons

It's unfortunate that most PhDs can't get more than two-year funding packages.

Pros

Good hours, could work around class schedule. Often this computer lab was dead in the evening so you could do homework etc.

Cons

low pay. It's expected but after 2 years with countless hours, no increase of pay due to experience.
