Pros

-Lots of upward opportunity, it's a big company with lots of money they're willing to give to those who play the game -With good leadership, you can really feel like you matter. Lots of ownership of the account, freedom of workflow and opportunities to make yourself visible -Great benefits -Depending on team, incentive structures. Some years they are achievable, some years they are not. When we achieved them for a year, my salary went up in effect by about 3k

Cons

1. Company-wide cons -The entire PepsiCo culture is upheld by its internal politics and aggressive pursuit of self-interest. People often rose up in the company by pushing others under the bus. The management requires extremely impressive numbers, and the only people that will move up in the company are those that are willing to kiss the ring, brown the nose and network relentlessly. Experience/accomplishments help, but not nearly enough. 2. Team specific cons. These are the reason why I gave it 2 stars. If the above were the only complaints, it would likely be 4 stars. Most of the problems below only started when our team management changed about a year into my employment. -The company suffered 3 layoffs in the past 2 years which left the rest of us with additional work but without adjusted salary/wages or expectations, including the requirement to work at least 3 Saturdays a year at no additional pay or benefit. -Feedback from the team members was shunned - sometimes supervisors pretended to care, sometimes they would openly shoot down suggestions and make the person feel like they are irrational for suggesting something. -Micromanagement and lack of trust in the individuals on the team to handle their business led to majority of the team leaving within a year. We went from a team of 18 including 2 supervisors, to a team of 6 including our manager. NO expectation change, and only vague promises of support. If support was requested, there were times that I was merely reminded that what I'm asking help with is a normal expectation of my job and that I have to manage my workload more efficiently. -Supervisor engaged in inappropriate gossip with team members. At one point, my supervisor told me that they are "thinking" of firing my counterpart, or "about to put them on PIP". At another time, my supervisor "confided" in me that they are "not sure how much longer this person will be here" and that "they are adults and it's their decisions that led them to it". Often he commented on their poor performance in their absence. Completely tactless and made me feel awkward. -After I used a few sick days or WFH days in the first couple of months in the year, my supervisor and my manager got on a call with me and tried to wrangle out of me a reason for me taking my allotted days - without HR present, and none of it in writing. -If the supervisor needed to talk to me about concerns about my performance or attendance, then the discussion was more formal - scheduled on the calendar, kept in writing and sent to upper management for "visibility". However, any discussion that wouldn't involve "constructive feedback" for me was relegated to a casual conversation. 3. Finally, their treatment of me when my employment was terminated. -My employment was terminated effective immediately with no final warning or PIP. When I took the action that led to it, I was unaware of what it meant as throughout my employment, my manager was often flexible in times of need/emergency, and this created an inconsistent framework of what is permissible and what is not, so I informed my management of my emergency situation before the start of day. My supervisor did not make it clear that this would lead to my termination if I went through with it, and what's more, he also did not give me a final warning the last time I took the action. -The only people on the termination call was the director who I never talked to before and HR. During the call, I was only briefly told that I violated policy, was only given instructions on how to return their equipment and was reminded that if I do not return it, I will be responsible for the costs. -The HR person DID NOT speak at all. I was NOT informed of my rights to file for unemployment, I was NOT informed of Cobra and I was NOT given resources to contact benefits center for any other additional questions. I did not know what happened to my insurance, when I will get paid, if my PTO will be paid out. This was Friday morning and I had to wait until Monday for them to email me any other information. My follow up emails were met with deafening silence. -Lastly, this experience made me feel like I was a nuisance that they got rid of. Despite all of it, I performed very well on my team and was an agreeable person, I have worked with my supervisor and manager for 3 years but ultimately, they slammed the door on me and didn't even have the decency to say "thanks, good luck".
