Pros

They will provide you with a voucher for any certification they offer for free, so if you're smart, you can leverage your time there to upskill as much as possible. They give free access to Udemy and LinkedIn Learning as well as Google certifications, so again, you can take advantage of these things to upskill. The company now offers everyone a paid week off for the 4th of July, so that's nice.

Cons

As an instructor, you are chasing after a constantly changing goalpost. There is no training whatsoever, so if you are not already skilled in adult education and curriculum development, get ready to have a long uphill battle while working lots of hours you will not get paid for. Management has no idea what they are doing, but the organization as a whole lacks structure and cohesion. What applies to one city varies wildly to the next. Instructors have an extraordinarily rigid schedule that allows no flexibility for work/life balance and as a result, instructor burn out and turn over are incredibly high. The job is incredibly taxing emotionally and mentally, because you're dealing with a new set of personalities and subsequently a new set of changes every three to four months. Instructors are held to impossible to reach KPI's given the circumstances and they are not compensated fairly for the work they do. Additionally, I was lied to about a promotion only for the organization to turn around and externally hire someone for the same position I wanted to apply for. All of the things that make Per Scholas a 'great place to work' for non-instructional positions are things instructors never get the benefit of. What's the point of PTO if you can never use it due to unpredictable course scheduling? It's rather unfair. The health insurance leaves much to be desired, but that's all across America. Health care in the US is obnoxiously expensive with very little upside.

Pros

Casual atmosphere with many good and friendly people. They treat their employees well and try to be accommodating.

Cons

Quite a bit of disorganization. Be prepared for a lot of time navigating bureaucracy. The nature of the work as an instructor requires more communication than software development, but it is often lacking between different departments.
