Pros

Flexible scheduling, get paid to play with dogs, Fun people to work with, great discounts (not just at the store),

Cons

Asked for more hours and instead they hired 3 new employees and I was cut down even farther, freezing in the winter and sweltering in the summer

Pros

If you have a love of animals and interpersonal relations with their owners, PetSmart is a fantastic place to work. In addition, caring for the pets and doing a more than satisfactory job is a reward in and of itself.

Cons

Managers did not respect intelligence nor the abilities of employees. In addition, employees have little ability to advance in either ability (no training), or in qualification for other job positions. This is my primary complaint with management. While it may have just been my personal experience- I found that PetSmart had a relatively high turn-over rate at my store because managers did not take a personal interest in employees and thus, did not know enough to work with them to improve not only the employees experience, but the level and quality of work they perform as well as care to pets and animals in store.

Pros

great customer interaction lots of interesting pets

Cons

hourly managers expected to work closing and opening shifts back to back; no recognition for jobs well done, only write ups for what wasn't finished on time due to no associate hours; no breaks or raises. Associates are expected to be available for all shifts at any given time. District manager hires and promotes mostly young males who are lazy
