Pros

Animal friendly environment.. That's about it now

Cons

Management with this company has become very unrewarding and unfullfilling. Upper management has become Lazer focused on pointless metrics. Your store could be doing great. You could be making sales plan goals, profits, grooming plan and even sign ups with their rewards program but still be reprimanded for not selling how they want you to sell. The run weekly reports on the amount of "add-on" sales your store has and if they aren't hitting their ridiculously high standards then it won't matter how profitable your store is. Are you selling plenty of dry dogfood? Great, but 36% of your dogfood sales didn't include a toy or a treat so you really aren't stepping up to your duties as a manager. Oh you made your monthly sales plan? That's great and all but it really doesn't matter because 15% of your sales didn't include products from 3 different departments... Oh you did meet that 15% well you still didn't get 5% of your transactions for food toy and a treat. Your groomshop is #2 in district sales this month? Well that would be wonderful, but 35% of your customers didn't also have a product from the sales floor included in their groom shop transaction. You aren't allowed to work freight until 6 but they'll only provide you enough hours for a manager, assist management and two part time workers, with a close time of 8 o'clock. Giving you two hours to work multiple pallets of product while juggling customer service and closing tasks. In addition to that, any freight that isn't completely checked in during your shift will be closed out and unable to reopen the following day. You'll have to put in a ticket to have them reopen it the next day, but it will take another 24 hours to reopen once the ticket is submitted. You'll have about 200 daily signatures on various checklists they give you that are redundant seemingly only there to inconvenience you every two hours.. Honestly the pay is terrible and you would make more doing door dash or something. It's simply not worth the headache. They took a wonderful place to work and completely sucked the life out of it. They've ran hard working loyal managers out of their stores over petty metrics that have nothing to do with the success of the company, sales or profits. People who have dedicated 15+ years of their life have been bullied to the point of having to quit just shy of retirement. Disgusting leadership.

Pros

You got to see dogs nearly every day

Cons

Zero training. Threw you to the wolves. I still go to therapy over how stressful this job was.

Pros

Loved working with customers, pets, and coworkers. Actual opportunities for promotion (I was hired as a cashier and worked up to a management position within two years).

Cons

The location is trying to be two businesses at once. Every single person is overworked and the store usually only has 1-2 people working it because otherwise the company would have to pay more than 2 people a day. All that slack then falls to management. Disgraceful.
