Pros

Very collaborative environment and open communication Sr. Management is being visionary and understands the changing environment in the industry. Uses the power of being the #1 pharmaceutical company as a change agent in the external environment

Cons

Pfizer is still living in the days of having tremendous revenues, therefore there are too many people without clear responsibilities. This will need to change as major drugs go off patent. They love to hire consultants, despite having talented people who can do the same work.

Pros

This place still has some of the best benefits packages and vacation policies I've ever seen, even though they are gradually phasing out the better benefits (top tier health insurance, etc) for new hires. Nice midtown location, onsite cafeteria, etc.

Cons

This place has almost no advancement opportunities for the worker bees, but always seems to find cash for endless layers of upper management whose contribution to the company is both invisible and questionable. If you're just a grunt, you can toil away for years and watch others get promoted for often no clear reason. Mass layoffs are also destroying morale, and they have not been handled with fairness or tact. Over the years I've seen older, very qualified, degreed workers replaced with a younger and younger set, and a downgrading of positions in pay level and requirements. It's a miracle that nobody has brought a class action suit yet. Anyone with vested benefits below a certain level is getting let go if they're not vacuous enough to be promoted. Oh, yeah, and the pipeline is failing. In a post-Lipitor world they haven't really found anything to fill the gap.

Pros

Great pay and benefits. Working for a widely recognized company. Great amount of vacation time for new employees and a good amount of paid holidays.

Cons

Continual upheaval as a result of continual mergers & buyouts and downsizing. Living in southeast CT. Slow promotion process for high performing employees.
