Managers have ability to block you from horizontal movement within company just to keep from hiring/training new people to replace you. Huge bummer when all you want to do is gain more knowledge/experience.

Often hard to climb the ladder when you’re in - frustrating to see other people with similar experience enter at a higher level than you whereas you need to jump through hoops to receive promotion
