Pros

-If you're a scientist or SOAM, probably have strong likelihood to make good money

Cons

-Some of the most soulless, self-congratulatory, out-of-touch C-level personnel. -Leadership at Pfizer sucks and work isn't done well. -Outsourced staff for various departments are terrible.

Pros

Very competitive salary and benefits, training excellent and continuous. They are not time bandits watching your desk when you get to work. and can pretty much leave high performers alone to do their creative work, but when it comes to deadlines and being accountable for your deliverables it is taken very seriously. Generally, you set your goals if you pad it they will know, if you are late on your deliverables everyone knows, including senior management, as planning for NPV, supplies, manufacturing clinical supplies, reg submissions follow tight wall street business planning down to sales and marketing. You may be leading SMs globally, so 24/7 meetings can occur or happens when you are working with colleagues in India, China who come to work when you are ready to leave, so there will be a few late nights or early morning meetings you will have to facilitate.

Cons

work hours can ebb and flow depending on the project and where your global program sites are located. Most clinical research jobs are outsourced so only director level are in-house. people will depend on you. and there is one thing you can never, ever say and that is ....something didn't get done because somebody didn't do it! Pfizer is a team approach so those tasks must be managed within the team es, managers, Assoc Director and Directors all work in addition to matrixed supervision. Teams, must be culturally competent and cross functional. , as well as decision-makers are team based. Mgt pays well for you to be the SME and know how to solve problems. Colleague decorum is a must. All employees are expected on their worst day to be polite and respectful. Gossipping is a career limiter. Professional and a go get attitude is prized no whiners. You can retire well if there that longf. Just remember it is a very old New York pharma company. Even if you have a B.S. or MA you may be selected to participate in priority imperatives along with a group of some of the finest MBAs from the top schools. Difficult to get in, may appear snobbish. If you want to work there dont take the first second or 3rd rejection personally. I tried for half dozen times over 7 years before they said yes. but I worked there for over 20 years and the company still ranks supreme, OTHER EMPLOYERS DO SEEK OUT EX-PFIZER COLLEAGUES (good standing)
