Fantastic place to work

Pros

The people at Phunware are extremely bright and self starting. You want to earn their respect because you respect them so much. This is a company of grown-ups, where people are all self motivated to give their best without relying on someone looking over their shoulder to do it. If you want to be "managed" or work 9-5 to get a paycheck it is not a good place to be. Every employee has a stake in the company and the ones who are successful work like owners who want to grow the value of that stake. Phunware is growing fast and for the self motivated and talented individual there is always a next step to be defined in the context of the growing business.

Cons

Not really a con, but you need to create your own balance. If you are looking to be treated as though you are entitled to anything, Phunware is the wrong place for you.

Big Disappointment

Pros

Some of the custom mobile applications developed for large media companies are innovative.

Cons

Once inside, the real story is that there is no focus or strategy, poor leadership, management by intimidation and threat, micromanagement of trivial nonsense, inadequate budgets to accomplish goals, and a lot of employee and management turnover. Salaries are lower than average, the stock plan is weak, promises of an IPO are overdone, benefits are expensive, and with multiple locations and dispersed management, overhead is high and communications are nonexistent.

Over Hyped and Badly Managed - When's that IPO coming?

Pros

Working in the Miami Art district has its perks, like good restaurants, excellent shopping, etc. Occasionally, you will receive and participate in an interesting project. You will be working on cutting edge technology.

Cons

Company tries to be too much to too many customers. Needs focus. You won't have time to take advantage of the Miami location//surroundings, as aggressive project deadlines are objectives pushed by management. And there's always an unrealistic deadline. Management is clueless and incapable of adding incentives to keep the staff working hard. Stock options for a possible IPO is the current bait used to justify the hard work. Salaries are below the national average. Work performed per resource is not. Lots and lots of miscommunication.
