Traditional, Hierarchical, Power and Control- Oriented -- not for the faint of heart (or the educated)

Pros

It is an intense personal challenge to survive and to do well with this company. Many I knew literally hated work and were basically numbed and worn down by it. Many very good employees and supervisors -- some of whom could have been excellent with some development and coaching -- also expected every day to be their last.

Cons

The poultry industry is a rough industry. Management style is outdated at Pilgrims, and they know it -- lawsuit have put a fine point on the matter. Yet, management is generally too rigid to embrace modern styles. Management, as a general rule, runs things through fear and intimidation -- failing to develop employees or to give them a real voice in the workplace.

Pilgrim's offers and opportunity to earn a good paycheck with good benefits It's a challenging, fast-paced business that offers the right person opportunity for growth and advancement.

Cons

Like any business, other than your own, you are at the mercy of the company and those above you. High probability that you will start on night shift and will be required to go back to night shift with each advancement.

None, they will work you until your arms and legs fall off. Management doesn't care about the employees they're only concerned about production. Plus only bring home about $340 per week for the HARD labor.

Cons

Cold, Wet, and pure discrimination. Management will only move up the people they like or close too. I advise anyone who needs a job to stay AWAY. Run as far as you can!!!
