Pros

Family owned franchises so you feel like part of a family rather than a corporate feel. You learn a lot of skills, customer service, pool equipment repairs, cash register, water testing. You can earn more money if willing to work outside of the store. They are flexible with working around school hours.

Cons

It can be seasonal. I've seen a lot of people let go or quit from lack of hours. Can be really boring at times. Not a lot of room to move up since family members hold all the high paying jobs.

Pros

Great first job to have out of high school (have to be 18), you learn a lot which can be overwhelming at first but it becomes habit and it can be useful. I worked at 4 different locations and all the owners and managers at each store were nice. Since they are franchises, there is a balance of a corporate feel with a mom and pop store vibe. Most of the customers are locals so you build relationships with them. I learned a lot of transferable skills: handling money and transactions, customer service, and sales among them.

Cons

Seasonal job for the most part so you may have hours cut or let go until the next time they need people. The occasional, overly difficult customer, the work can become dull after a while, and when the store isn't busy the down time drags the day.
