Pros

Mission-driven, strong science, and strong investor group, still has the potential for greatness

Cons

C-suite believes that hiring more VPs, and C-suite level execs solves issues, poor execution, years of poor leadership and no accountability resulted in 3 RIFs to "right-size" company, no liquidity for employees.

Pros

There are some really excellent people at Pivot Bio who have the necessary experience and expertise from pre-Pivot employment to do their job well, and "bring the outside in".

Cons

On the other hand, some of the colleagues don't know what they don't know, and believe that they can reinvent the wheel without searching out best practices and lessons learned from other companies and institutions, which leads to slow progress and sometimes missteps.

Pros

Great benefits and facilities, with lots of support from team and management. Low stress environment.

Cons

Very slow moving and monotonous, with few openings to take responsibility or generate one's own ideas. Company is very siloed, and it's difficult to find relevant information to educate oneself. Layoffs and a reorganization to matrix structure were handled poorly, and make mid level employees relegated to assistants and lab techs who relegated to performing grunt work with no connection to project goals or personal investment.
