      Pros

      Great culture Many office locations in the Midwest Different opportunities in audit, tax, consulting, etc. Feedback process is very thorough

      Cons

      The benefits are not competitive for families (spouses pay market rates) The brand recognition is poor outside of core markets (Michigan offices)

      Pros

      Plante and Moran has a great work/life balance - management is open to non-traditional working arrangements, and gives generous time off. Often people with small children can work limited schedules, or take generous amounts of time off and then come back to work.

      Cons

      Plante & Moran is a large firm, and individuals can sometimes get lost in the shuffle. Although they have a very detailed career planning and performance review system, getting support from higher staff members is often hard. People work very hard here, especially during tax season, and that can lead to lower-level individuals getting left behind. Then, when time for performance review, they wonder why you have not performed.

      Pros

      Strong reputation in Michigan only.

      Cons

      Very poor pay for tax professionals (20+% lower than smaller and larger firms), certain ignorant partners, unbelievable poor employee relation skills of certain partners. Too many partners, they appear powerless or make themselves out to appear powerless. Clients end up suffering and paying for this in the end. Large turnover of exceptional talent and future talent due to the above factors.
