Pros

- Good security team leadership, providing a high trust environment with freedom to think about projects that would be helpful to the company. - Good coworkers who actually like working in security. - Engineering teams are fairly security-minded, getting people to fix problems doesn't require pulling teeth. - Engineering/Growth culture allowing breathing room to grow while still working on perpetually interesting challenges. - Company name recognition, have had people know the company even in my extended family from just running into the product. - Flexible working schedule as hybrid as I want it to be. WFH one day, in office the next day. Not the same for the rest of the company but the security team gets to be structured like this due to significant parts of the team being remote.

Cons

- HR doesn't look beyond the last job title when determining compensation. You start low you'll get low comp and promotions are only 1 level at a time even if you're doing L2-L3 work. Went from mid level engineer at a startup to security internship at this company for a career pivot and now after delivering for a while HR put me on L1 rather than back to mid level. - Remains to be seen if HR will fix their mistake or if they will be willing to promote to the correct level or if I need to force a releveling conversation next year after performance reviews given the projects I've been working on. - That being said that "low" is being compared to market rate and is still generally enough to live off of comfortably, so it's a matter of perspective.

Talented team and impactful product, but toxic culture

Pros

Talented people on the tools. Great product genuinely making a difference.

Cons

Toxic workplace with ridiculous turnover. From the outside it presents well, but the reality was very different. I found the environment to be driven by fear rather than trust, with little psychological safety and a culture where people were reluctant to speak openly. Feedback often felt inconsistent, expectations were difficult to pin down, and I never felt set up to succeed. If you’re considering joining, make sure you ask detailed questions about turnover, support, and how performance is actually managed.

Pros

You can make good money and they have an ice cream bar.

Cons

This is one of the most toxic work environments I have ever worked in and it recently got more stressful with the addition of a new VP of Sales in enablement. There is no coaching here, you can go from performing really well to missing a month to a PIP very quickly, which creates a culture of fear and low morale. The new VP is not trustworthy and will throw you under the bus to the CEO which he is getting a reputation for, even though he is new. This company wants to grow but leadership doesn't seem to understand you need a strong sales team to do this and the fire culture they've created won't get them there. They obviously do not value their employees. The micromanagement is overwhelming and not enjoyable because no one thrives in an environment like this.
