Pros

The best pro right now is that my liver can take a break from all the fake schmoozing. I have learned how to message to a large team to get them to believe what I want and to later blame them. Once the newness and fun wears off it is easy to see how the leadership team uses trust and fun to get you to go along with whatever the flavor of the month is. I have learned how to put down others in order to stay in a higher position.

Cons

Lots of politics. Stop keeping people in leadership positions that just blame the team. Get people who actually know what they are doing and actually care about what they are doing. We have seen most of the good climbers leave. Trust is broken and it won't be repaired from all the things that have happened over the last year.

Poor Leadership/Management and Not Enough Growth

Pros

extremely hard working employees who are over-worked and deserves so much more.

Cons

I worked in the Burlingame office for over a year. The managers for the payroll team are super unprofessional; they tend to over work their team and they are horrible listeners. The managers in this office likes to set unrealistic expectations and doesn't step in to support their team when needed. They also encourages "candid" feedback, but when given feedback, they get defensive and only listen to respond. They also don't value the growth of their employees and do only what is easiest to them and most convenient. Lastly, they don't take responsibilities for their actions and tends to blame their employees for their mistakes. There's also not a lot of growth opportunities here in the CA office because it's too expensive to promote the employees here. It's really sad because culture is suppose to be an important factor for the company, but because of the poorly chosen leaders, they lost many great employees.

Pros

Monthly reimbursement account for fun activities after 6 months of employment.

Cons

Company is ran like a mom and pop shop. Not professional, consistent or transparent. Clients hire Populus because it is cheaper than other companies like it and they basically get what they pay for. Technology is old and inefficient. Managers and team leaders are inexperienced, disrespectful, abnoxious and verbally abusive. Training or lack thereof is a joke. A few days is spent explaining the job and then the employee is given a high volume of work resulting in a work week of over 40 hours and contradicting work/ life balance that the company boasts about. 401k benefits are terrible. The company only matches 50% instead of 100% and charges a maintenance fee to have the account.
