Pros

Good health insurance if you like Kaiser. Summers “off” (though initially unpaid.)

Cons

No 401k matching. Extremely low pay for the work done (pandemic teaching college-level healthcare: online, on campus, in hospital, and public health.) Abusive and toxic culture in the department. Even for a pandemic, there’s no excuses to bully eachother, nor students, in 2020.

Pros

Friendly staff, students are great. Job is challenging and interesting. If you have a FT benefited AP/Management/Classified position, the benefits are really nice. Free classes at PCC and tuition stipends at other schools!

Cons

Adjunct, casual, and part time employees are treated as disposable and replaceable. This is, of course, part of a larger problem with adjunct positions in the US. Another con is that being an adjunct instructor is kind of a dead end job here.
