Working in any of the student groups gives you a ton of exposure and connection with professors and campus resources. You'll learn a lot about collaboration, event planning, and the basic responsibilities of your job that you'll do anyways give you good building blocks for your own individual projects. It's a good way to learn some applicable real world skills and looks great on applications for four year universities or job apps if that's what you're aiming for.

Cons

This was an environment that had a lot of politics involved. Since the student teams are small, it can be hard to make sure that responsiblilites are divided equally, and sometimes there can a lot of favoritism on the part of the supervisors. This isn't necessarily a con, but if you do decide to interview for a higher up student supervisory position, be prepared to face a solo interview where you'll be facing up to 10 people, so do your homework.
