Pros

Very stable company. Other employees are generally helpful and easy to work with.

Cons

Work environment in IT can be chaotic, even given the usual chaotic standards of IT departments.

Pros

Great place to work as there was every opportunity to succeed.

Cons

At times would be very bureaucratic at times as there was always a meeting for a meeting. Understanding this is a highly regulated industry I found it necessary and tolerated the layers of communication.

Pros

The best reason to work at PGE are the people, friendly and welcoming culture and the benefits (excellent health coverage and fun wellness programs)! It's an environment that puts a lot of energy into training (depending on the department you are in) and pays well for the area (depending on who your manager is). There is also a pretty-much-guaranteed bonus every year.

Cons

The main challenge is the lack of understanding around career progression. Managers don't really justify how some people move around, are assigned good projects, why you may earn significantly below your peers (10-40% less) for the same work done. Bonuses are also a bit mysterious even though they act like the whole process is very transparent. The company doesn't deal with poor performers, so annual goals are laid out but there's no real penalty for not meeting goals. PGE has a lot of people on the brink of retirement and they're not ready to embrace a new generation of millennials that will make up their workforce. All of the positions they post internally require a lot of experience to move into. Those positions are usually filled with outside consultants that come in with highly negotiated and pricey salaries.
