Thank you for sharing your perspective. This is not the experience we’re striving to create at PGE. We are committed to a diverse workforce and creating an environment where everyone’s perspective is valued. In 2021, half of our new leaders identify as BIPOC and nearly half identify as women. Additionally, for 2021, 40% of all new hires identified as females and 35% of all new hires identified as BIPOC. We’ve also launched development programs for women and BIPOC employees to further diversify our leadership and provide additional opportunities for underrepresented employees. If you’re willing, our DE&I team would love to connect and understand from your experience where we can continue deepening this work. Please contact them at DEI@pgn.com. Additionally, you can report your concerns to EthicsPoint by calling their hotline at 866-384-4277. The EthicsPoint hotline is managed by a third party vendor.

Pros

Almost all IT is work from home, the coworkers are fun and respectful, and there are a wide variety of things to work on. The last few years have seen the company go from an extremely risk-averse IT approach to adopting a more fast paced, cutting edge approach to problem solving. If you want flexibility, this is a great company to work for. Annual bonuses are pretty good, and raises in IT can be as high as 8-10% if the stars align (maximum end of year employee review score + maximum overall company growth vs estimated growth for the year).

Cons

No direct cons. One thing to consider however: As a salaried employee with on-call commitments, I was told upfront that any evening/weekend hours are compensated with a mindset of "we pay a higher base salary", but I never received an explanation of how much that actually affected my base pay. I'm guessing that statement is true in relationship to other jobs at the company, but there are probably other pure software development positions out there that pay more and expect no weekends or overtime. Not the end of the world; just something to be aware of. If you would rather have something closer to 50/50 coding vs maintenance with flexibility, this might interest you.
