Pros

Training for RBT certification offered. Good hourly pay with lower pay for drive time between sessions. Bonuses given for those who work a certain amount of hours each quarter. Supportive BCBAs and regional coordinators. Flexible schedules makes taking time off manageable. Ability to make up hours missed. You work with some amazing families.

Cons

Minimal and inconsistent hours to start. You build your caseload by client but can easily become full time if you show up for your clients. Must be familiar with basic ASL and AAC devices or learn on the spot if your clients utilizes that form of communication.

Pros

Direct regional leadership team is knowledgable and kind. Free CEUs, make your own schedule, plenty of time off, competitive pay. Put families first. Plenty of resources offered in their database.

Cons

As a large corporation, they have large communication gaps and frequently implement major policy changes with little to no advanced notice, which creates unnecessary stress and disruption for both staff and clients. Most recently, they eliminated our ability to email and text parents outside of their portal, giving only 48 hours notice. This provided minimal time to train staff or properly inform parents of the change. The portal itself is unreliable, requiring daily updates to function correctly and frequently experiencing glitches. Additionally, recent restructuring has significantly increased workload demands. Regional coordinators have been reassigned across multiple regions, leaving each coordinator responsible for supporting 80+ cases. At the same time, the staffing position was eliminated without notice to BCBAs, and those responsibilities have been shifted entirely onto us and regional coordinators. BCBAs are heavily involved in interviewing and staffing the RBTs on their own cases, which is extremely time consuming and not compensated. RBT hiring practices are inconsistent, with minimal screening leading to some unprofessional and under qualified staff being pushed onto BCBAs. Combined with long drive times—often an hour each way, with cases spread across different areas outside of the city. Getting a full, manageable caseload is nearly impossible due to a noticeable decrease in available cases, yet the company continues to hire new BCBAs rather than prioritizing cases for more tenured employees. Despite these several barriers, staff are still penalized through salary reductions when billable targets are not met.
