Terrible experience, especially during the pandemic
Pros
Flexibility (Unless the app actually does penalize users for logging out, or having their phone run out of battery)
Cons
Almost everything about working for Postmates as a delivery driver in Los Angeles was hellish. There were few consequences for customers' inappropriate behavior and requests, even when we were categorized as "essential workers" during the pandemic. You must be able to have regular repairs done on your car out of your own pocket, and to take all depreciation on your car on the chin. This is an unreasonable request for a job that requires wear and tear, even in a city without much rain. There is constant stopping and starting in traffic, which wears out your breaks and puts you at risk for an accident, all over someone else's meal. These companies break labor laws when they refuse, nay, spend millions of dollars on campaigns to prevent drivers from being classified and treated as employees.
