Soul Crushing

Pros

Work with good people, intellectually stimulating, managers try to give good work-life balance. Only reason I put two stars on here instead of one is because I know that there's child slave labor in other parts of the world.

Cons

Quintessential corporate America -- your soul gets crushed over time. You could spend hours and hours going above and beyond on something and it genuinely won't mean a thing. Incredibly slow moving and boring company where you sit at a computer screen all day. Then when you are on the shop floor the unionized mechanics are all lazy and waste millions of dollars of the company's money. And then the company enacts cost-curtailment where they can't even pay for coffee in the office and lunch is not subsidized but rather actually more expensive than buying it somewhere else. Everything regarding company messaging is fake and just meant to appeal to what they think society as a whole wants.

Pros

Could be very entertaining to watch managers running around like chickens with their heads, cut off, trying to figure out how to solve simple problems

Cons

No feedback on work performance, no guidance on how to succeed at your position, very much” good old boy” system of promotion and pay

Pros

Interesting products to design and manufacture, such as fighter jet engines

Cons

P&W does not look ahead for profit goals. One year P&W hires hundreds of people then the next year they layoff people. They have had three layoffs in 1.5 years with a bunch of new-hires within this time frame. It is not a consistent/stable company with the threat and stress of being laid off frequently. If you want stability, this is not the company to work for. If you want to get into the industry for a few years, then Pratt & Whitney is acceptable.
