Pros

The campus is beautiful and the facilities are generally really good. They have great core facilities which let you do experiments with equipment you wouldn't have in your lab. There is a machine shop you can learn to use. The faculty members are in large part top notch.

Cons

Princeton is a small town with not a lot going on, so if you like city life it might not be fore you. The NJ transit is there, but going to the city is a bit of a slog, and you have to end up leaving rather early in the night to catch the last train back. One minor gripe is that the food options near lab are very limited.

Pros

Besides cutting edge research there are a lot of out-of-field opportunities.

Cons

Small town, as a postdoc you get a modest salary - not compared to other universities, but compared to other industries.
