Supporting a Great Mission

Pros

Prison Fellowship is a highly respectable organization supporting a mission that often goes unnoticed - restoring the lives of those impacted by incarceration. While I don't work on the "front lines" I find meaning in the work that I do each day and for the most part, the majority of Prison Fellowship staff feels the same way. The organization is highly organized with lots of processes in place. Management invests a lot in training and technology is on par with for-profit companies. Benefits and work-life balance are good as well. Overall, the culture is one based on Christian principles that puts family first.

Cons

Not really a con, but just something to consider: Even if you are a Christian, the beliefs of the organization are very strongly built on evangelism so just be sure you are ready for that before joining Prison Fellowship.

Pros

Harmonious org with clear vision. Not a lot of politics. Really care about the mission.

Cons

Benefits are okay in some ways and not in others.Heard from almost all expecting moms that the maternity leave is horrendous. Might be slightly ageist

Transformational Work

Pros

Great Mission... Great Colleagues. Working with committed volunteers and churches to make an impact in the lives of the incarcerated, their families and the communities they come from and return to.

Cons

Need more consistency in how the effort is carried out. There is not a high degree of institutional learning here resulting in the organization making some of the same mistakes over and over again over the years. Been quite a bit of leadership change over the last few years with many of the best leaders being laid off by the organization. Lack of entrepreneurial risk taking has plagued this organization’s ability to grow. Organization is pretty isolated (culturally) from the communities and constituents it is intended to serve.
