Pros

Career advancement opportunities are plentiful, along with support for cross functional career endeavors. P&G also provides very rewarding assignments from early on in the career that build high levels of technical and leadership skills.

Cons

In engineering career promotions are not readily given compared to other functions in the company. For a new engineer it will take 4-7 years to advance to the next level. P&G promotes from within so this can prove to be a challenge in terms of career progression for an experienced hire.

Pros

Procter is a great place to work if you have a love of marketing and brand management. It is first and foremost a marketing company, and this ethic permeates all functional areas, including even Global Business Services (IT, HR, etc). In general, Procter encourages employee initiative and strategic vision. Most employees tend to work 2 or 3 year assignments, then move on to other areas. This is great from the point of view of learning the business and acquiring new skills. Most Procter employees are hired from school, and unless you are part of an acquisition, the company might be hard to break into.

Cons

The internal "network" at Procter can be hard to break into if you are coming in from the outside. However, if you are an assertive and confident networker this should not be a problem. There is a strong emphasis personal "branding", that sometimes can seem more valued than tangible results. The rapid turnover of "assignments" can result in employees having a lot of breadth but not much technical or business depth in any one area.

Pros

Great Opportunty to gain skills and lead in challenging environment. Very smart people, best of the best. They are a promote from within company so you really can grow and learn and be promoted. Their benefits are great and they offer great flexible work arrangements. Everyone is very helpful. They are very community focused and always trying to give back. Even as interns they start you out with alot of responsibility. You will increase your leadership skills among others while there.

Cons

too many systems and procedures. Can be very competitive due to how ratings are given. There are alot of politics and networking. YOu need to know people to make the promotion process easier.
