Pros

P&G has some of the smartest and most honest employees you will find anywhere. All employees are treated with respect and pushed to find ways to improve their skills and job performance. HIgh level managers focus on providing constructive feedback to encourage growth among newer employees. No wonder the company keeps managing to meet such ambitious goals. Stock plan is better than any 401K matching and hard to beat.

Cons

The company is still somewhat conservative and changes can be slow. Communication between and across departments needs to improve. There appear to be some personality issues in R&D that HR needs to address.

Pros

Procter has great people with a very strong value system. Their compensation seems to be competitive.

Cons

P&G is one of those companies in which you may learn a great deal about your category and function but what you really learn that is transferrable at other companies is how to get things done. There are many layers of management to go through to make decisions. You have to learn to deal with significant layers of bureacracy to accomplish things.

Pros

Great opportunities, promote from within company - if you perform well, you can move up in the company. The company is very well known for its brands and the new focus on beauty care puts P&G at the top of a very fast-growing business. P&G is a good business during "good" economic times, but it's even better during slumps as consumer goods are in demand no matter what. The retirement plan at P&G is the best one that I've seen anywhere. The people at P&G are fantastic to work with.

Cons

Working in manufacturing can be difficult with the non-stop 24/7 operation.
