broken culture + inept exec team

Pros

Office location is pretty great. Office itself is open with lots of spaces to do work away from your desk.

Cons

This company is not worth the effort. The CEO does not understand technology or the industry and has steadily moved Prosper away from innovation in order to lean on more traditional financial services practices. He tries to sell himself as a deprecating everyman hero while surrounding himself with ex-bankers and second rate product and technology leaders who act as his enforcers. Meanwhile these executive "leaders" clearly can't stand each other. People and career management is a joke. Prosper was moving decidedly toward a more technology driven future -- not so much anymore. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.

Pros

Overall Prosper has a lot going for it. There has been a lot of upheaval lately: lots of additional people have left after the recent layoffs. However, this turbulent time has created opportunities to step up for the people who chose to stay. Leadership recently acknowledged the morale issues after these events and recently created a employee run culture committee which should help clear the clouds still lingering from recent events. There are good things to come. There are still lots of great people here who are working hard to build an amazing product, and provide exceptional internal and external customer service. Location and benefits coverage is pretty good for san francisco.

Cons

Some groups weren't impacted by the layoffs and didn't seem to understand the impact the layoffs had on other teams. This has gotten better, but it would be great to see the leadership develop a company-wide retention and engagement plan to address ongoing turnover. This seems to be in the works, but it has not been a top priority. Recent turnover in IT and Engineering has left employees with majors concerns about product infrastructure and general platform stability.

Pros

Growing company that has achieved success through cracking the whip.

Cons

Executive team is close minded and have a 'my way or the highway' attitude. Tendency is to hire 'friends' only to find out it was a mistake.
