      Pros

      Protiviti is full of great people, which is why I have stayed.

      Cons

      Work-life balance is not the reality. I am being asked to work minimum 50-55 hrs a week plus travel. Additionally, I know people working much more than that. It seems like these types of projects are seen as short-term, so it's ok. However, if you are continually out in these projects, you might as well kiss your life goodbye.

      Pros

      Just like any consulting firm, it's great that you get to work on different projects. There are also some really smart people that you can learn from.

      Cons

      Protiviti unfortunately does not have the manpower, size, or enough special qualities to stand out above the top firms or specialized boutiques. For this reason, they get a lot of the "ok" work at companies (tactical opposed to strategy). There are also some really crappy managers simply because they also have a hard time attracting the best talent. Whatever you do, don't get sucked into SOX/audit work unless you want to.

      Variety in assignments, at least for me. Good support from local and global resources. Good compensation and secondary benefits. Travel.

      Cons

      Travel. SOx testing can become exhausting. :-)
