Pros

Protiviti currently owns a small, growing fraction of the market share. As compared to other big consulting players who are already saturated in the market and unable to promise its people as much future growth, it's exciting to think about the opportunities that working for a growing firm represents. The firm's culture is one that focuses on its people first, and every employee has the ability to define their own career path. I started with the firm out of college, and have been promoted several times in less than 10 years because I was able to set meaningful goals and work along clear expectations to achieve the path that I wanted. I've grown professionally and technically and my compensation has grown with me. Finally, you'll get to work with well known clients with complex problems. Many people are surprised to learn that our clients are major players - not just local companies no one's heard of.

Cons

Like all consulting firms, there's a balance between good projects and bad projects. The firm's operational infrastructure still has some work to do (internal systems for time reporting, job administration are not effective, and can be painful at times). The name "Protiviti" is confusing and clumsy, but it's here to stay. But in the scheme of things, these are small headaches to put up with given the strong people culture, and future growth potential.

Pros

You will get exposure to different industries and a basic understanding of how companies operate. Protiviti management generally consists of good people who treat you well. Junior level employees get a good amount of responsibly and Protiviti invests a lot of money in training. Overall, you will learn some interesting things & make good friends.

Cons

Companies hire Protiviti as a vendor to complete specific tasks (SOX, IA, IT security assessments), rather than as a firm to provide groundbreaking analysis and creative insights to improve the business. The work is audit focused and the majority of employees (especially those out of college) will spend their time doing SOX control testing and internal audit. In these rolls, you are providing assurance that the business/ people are following the rules and performing their tasks correctly.
