Pros

The people are really terrific!

Cons

The training is inconsistent. Messages are inconsistent. It doesn't make sense. Changes occur way too fast for anybody to follow. The trainers appear to be over paid arrogant idiots that have only had one job, their job at Protiviti. They come up short when in comes to knowledge level beyond the surface. Actually I think most of them fake it through. Protiviti is in trouble...that one trainer from kansas city is a real fool.

Pros

Like a lot of professional services firm, Protiviti offers a good place to start your career. You have an opportunity to gain practical work experience in a variety of industries and locations. The benefits package is decent and the vacation package is competitive.

Cons

Protiviti was late in adjusting its focus from SOX audit to general consulting services. Over the past two years, the local leadership has been predicting the decline of Sarbanes Oxley related work, yet no apparent shift or adaptation seemed to occur until after the economy began its decline. The firm has been reluctant to invest in it's resilient niche service offerings like IT security, opting instead to keep the entire firm in the same compensation and career model. Locally this has lead to a lot of resignations in the growth areas and a lot of layoffs in the stagnant areas. The shift to general consulting services appears to be more of a marketing move than an operational move, as very few offices and service lines are making the change.

Pros

The good people that remain and the memory of what an exciting place this can be to work.

Cons

Leadership leaves a lot to be desired; especially with the downturn of the economy, the leadership team has floundered with decision making. And in making those decisions has done a poor job communicating news to the company. Salary = poor Lack of career development and growth For a relatively small company the management team is out of touch with the Senior and Consultant levels.
