Pros

The people are fantastic. Plenty of opportunities to develop professionally.

Cons

Respect for staff is lacking and there is a lack of accountibility amoung management. Lots of finger-pointing and favoritism. Ex-Anderson folks seem set in their ways and can't see the big picture

Pros

Great work assignments most of the time and excellent local MD. No office politics and great, talented colleagues.

Cons

If you are the primary carer of your children, working for Protiviti might be tricky. While I was always able to take time off if I needed, the career advancement was absolutely out of question. Professional services require steady 12 -14 hours a day. It is common to come home, feed the children and put them to bed and then continue to work a few more hours to be able to stay in line with your colleagues. And even if you do this systematically, it is unlikely you will get promoted. Another negative is the lack of office space, not to mention quality work space; you can be more comfortable in a bus station.

Pros

Protiviti is a great place to start a career. For the college graduate, consulting / internal audit is great place to learn and experience multiple aspects of a business in a short period of time with little or no experience. Individuals who come out of consulting/professional services firms definitely have a leg up on individuals in industry as they have gained a set of skills in working between different groups and understanding how a business works.

Cons

The organization is still new although it aspires to be more established and well recognized. The Protiviti name is not exactly a "household" brand when it comes to internal audit and risk consulting - which may be a hard pill for the ex-Anderson types to swallow, but the company is pushing forward. Most consultants will spend a fair amount of time doing public compliance (SOX) work - which can get old pretty quickly if that is all you are staffed to.
