Pros

Ultimately Protiviti does a great job of hiring friendly personable people (especially those below management positions).

Cons

Experience differs wildly based on which office/city you work in. Politics. Experience also differs wildly based on which solution you work in.

Pros

- Good people to work with - Offices in many locations to choose from - Average compensation - Committees to get employees involved with the community and try to build team spirit - No shortage of work to do

Cons

- Benefits are below average (401k and Health) - Promotions are hard to come by. Have to beg to be promoted. They don't promote because you deserve it, only when they feel they are at the point they have to promote you (when they think you might leave). - Compensation is average - Management expects over time. They want 45-50 hrs to be the norm work week. - Employees are not eligible for a bonus within their first year at the company. - A lot of the same repetitive work week after week. Can easily get burnt out doing the same SOX work.

Thanks for taking the time to share your opinions. I'm glad you're enjoying working with others who are good people. I wanted to share a little bit more information on promotions as your understanding that they are hard to come by or come slowly is not accurate. We promote our people when they have shown the ability to perform at the next level, when they have shown that they have sufficiently mastered the leadership, delivery, and technical skills at the current level. On average, our people spend about 2.5 years at a level before promoting. There is no need to beg for a promotion as we systematically review each employee twice a year and consider their contributions and readiness for promotion in January and July. We follow that up with a career checkpoint, again twice a year. Your career advisor will meet with you throughout the year. You're getting project-based feedback throughout the year that is also a barometer of how your are progressing and performing. We don't feel like we "have to" promote people. We feel that we GET TO PROMOTE them, and we celebrate each round of promotions with a published list and local recognitions around the world. Our business model works as people learn and grow, and we have every incentive as a business to promote people as soon as they are ready, having proven they can contribute and succeed at the higher level. If you need to discuss this matter further, I hope you will contact HR or one of your advisors - or me directly. (SR)

Great place to work

Pros

* Work with great people * Management is friendly and always accessible * Easy place to come to work for everyday * Management includes employees and makes them part of the brand/vision of the company, instead of just saying "here it is, deal with it" * Lots of committees for employees to join to keep them involved

Cons

* Some employees have different managers and are not held to the same professional standards as the rest of the office, which causes disruptions and make it difficult to do your work. * Pay in Operations is based on level/title and not on effort and actual work done. * Promotions/benefits/perks are geared towards Practice employees, while Operations are either not included or left in the dark. * Extensive training/courses/certifications, etc for Practice employees, with TBD for Operations. * Expense/reimbursement software and policy are HORRIBLE. The software is outdated and not user friendly at all, it takes a minimum of 5 days to get expense reports looked at, and the rules/policy changes depending on who is looking at the report. Not user friendly at all.
