Pros
If what you want to do is make a difference in the world, being able to help the poor and vulnerable is about as meaningful an organizational focus as you can have. In addition, Providence is very stable financially in a difficult industry, and has recently started pursuing investments and innovation in healthcare at a pace that few other organizations can match.
Cons
The corporate support functions like HR and IT are way behind the high standards met by clinical and other operational areas. As Providence continues to grow, coordination across silos is becoming more challenging. Although there is a strong focus internally on ensuring that Providence maintains those parts of its culture that are most important, there is a sense that there is some "drift".
