Pros

Faith based organization that tries to maintain its compassionate culture while growing in size very quickly. There are a lot of good people who are working with you that believe in the mission of serving our communities.

Cons

Within the past couple of years, has attempted to centralize the shared services for all of their ministries in which resulted in lay offs in several regions and relocation of jobs to their Renton headquarters. It did not feel like a well executed plan and there is no method as to why some positions were eliminated and why some indiviudals were able to maintain their positions without moving to Renton. It seems like they are held back by living in a world where people need to be micromanaged and sitting in a tiny cube instead of keeping great talent by utilizing technology and allowing people to contribute from whatever region that currently reside in. Seems like there could be some organizational politics at play when observing exceptions that are made or at least that is the perception and that doesn't breed an environment of trust.

Pros

There are many opportunities for advancement for those who are motivated. You can also find a role you like and stay there with no problems. The organization is growing.

Cons

Within the IS department there seems to be a huge departure from the original mission and core values that attracted me to the organization. Outside of IS the mission still seems alive and there is a large group of people who have 15, 20, and even 30+ years with the company. However, in IS this is no longer present. Everyone seems miserable and there is always a constant fear of losing your job. There have been 3 reorgs within a 2 year period. It used to be that people were the last thing to go to save money. Now it seems that is their first consideration.

Pros

The best reason to work is to just bag the money. Career wise in IT, this is not a place to grow because of old technology in IT. Most of the people especially developers working in the company are senior citizens. There is a lots of politics between these old people here at Beaverton and as a young guy, you will get bored to an extent that you wish to resign but you get stuck between these people for few months just because they get jealous of you WFH with the RSA token.

Cons

Most of the Resource Managers and Project Managers don't have any college degrees. The environment is pretty slow and everybody talks with a ego just because somebody spread it around. Not that many educated people around here. Coders and Developers are all 50+ with zero coding skills and are grumpy all the time. Too much of Cheap Politics on every level.
